Established in 1902 as the Dimling Brothers Bar and 
Grill, the liquor license was the eighth issued by the State of Pennsylvania and bears the certificate number R-8. In 1982, the 1902 Tavern was established and while the original bar no longer existed, an authentic 19th Century bar was found in a hotel in South Fork, Pennsylvania. It was purchased, dismantled, and shipped to Pittsburgh where it was refinished for the Tavern.
In 2008, the new owners of 1902 Tavern created a 
beautiful lounge in the front of the restaurant with a picture window onto Market Square for patrons enjoying cocktails and conversation. So come early and stay late before and after dinner, gather and relax with your friends in the homey and comfortable lounge filled with cozy sofas and tasteful furnishings, while enjoying an array of specialty drinks, wines and coffees.
